The Comptroller and Auditor General is supported by the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General in performing his functions. The organisation carries out both financial audits and performance audit where staff undertake the annual financial audit of a wide range of public sector organisations and carry out Value For Money (VFM) examinations on various topics of the economic and efficient use of resources and systems for measuring effectiveness.

GRADUATE VACANCIES
We recruit trainee auditors who commit to study for a professional accountancy qualification. Entrants must have either passed the first-stage examination of an accountancy body or be exempt from that stage. Trainee auditors work as part of a team undertaking financial audits or VFM examinations. The required skills include:
- Analytical ability and sound judgement
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to report findings accurately and concisely
- High levels of commitment
- Ability to meet challenging deadlines
- Computer literacy
Our head office is in Dublin Castle. Many of the bodies we audit are located outside Dublin. Staff working on these audits carry out many audit tasks in the premises of our clients.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The entry grade for the Office is the grade of Trainee Auditor and the pay scale for this grade currently runs from €31,401 to €44,639. Annual leave entitlement commences at 23 days. Paid study leave for the first sitting of accountancy examination subjects and reimbursement of professional fees may be provided.
