IFS - a State Street Company - Anna Zawislak, ACCA member After graduating with a master’s degree in economics, I decided to come to Ireland. In November 2006, I was offered a role as a reconciliation administrator at Investors Bank & Trust (IBT). From the first day, I knew it was the right place for me. I quickly got to grips with my new role and in 2008 I was assigned to the integration team as a reconciliation specialist, where I was responsible for converting funds following the acquisition of IBT by State Street. I decided to study for the ACCA qualification as I wanted to broaden my knowledge. As an internationally recognised qualification covering a variety of topics, ACCA is a perfect platform for me. Soon after, I joined one of State Street's fund accounting teams where I am responsible for the production of net asset values (NAVs) - pricing various financial instruments and issuing reports to clients. ACCA helped me greatly by allowing me to apply theoretical knowledge to the practical aspects of my work. State Street is very supportive of employees who want to further their education. The company provides financial support, including paid study and exam leave. Moreover, as State Street is an ACCA Approved Employer, upgrading to member status was a very straightforward process. The real challenge for me was to ensure that I managed to leave the office in time for evening lectures - I couldn’t have done this without the support of my fellow team members. Thanks to all the support I received, I completed my ACCA in three years. For me, having the ACCA qualification is the key that opens the door to endless career opportunities at home or abroad.
